Base Entertainment Asia is excited to announce that & Juliet, is coming to Singapore for a strictly limited season from 21st September to 8th October 2023 at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, for its Asian premiere! & JULIET is produced by Michael Cassel Group in association with MTM/Leyline and presented in Singapore by Base Entertainment Asia.

From the writer of Netflix’s Schitt’s Creek - David West Read; directed by Luke Sheppard (In the Heights); music from legendary five-time GRAMMY® Award-winning songwriter/producer Max Martin; choreography from Jennifer Weber and stunning set design from Soutra Gilmour, & Juliet has taken Broadway and West End by storm, winning 3 Olivier Awards and an impressive 9 Tony Awards nominations under its belt.

The show takes a fresh and contemporary look at Juliet taking control of her own destiny and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. It also includes many other extremely relevant overarching themes for the community we live in today, including empowerment for both women and men and inclusivity; presented by a diverse cast that also has members from the Aboriginal, Filipino, and Sri Lankan communities. 

You'll be enjoying a fun night of storytelling as Juliet’s hilarious and inspiring new story bursts into life through a playlist of pop anthems including  “Since U Been Gone‚” “Roar,” “Baby One More Time,” “Larger Than Life‚” “That’s The Way It Is,” and “Can’t Stop the Feeling”.

The Fourth Edition Of Singapore International Jazz Festival Is Going To Be Bigger!

Fans of Jazz are all excited and they have a reason to, as the Fourth Edition of Singapore International Jazz Festival (SING JAZZ) is returning in less than 5 weeks' time and it is going to be bigger than the last!

To be held at the same great venue - Event Plaza at Marina Bay Sands -  music lovers from Singapore and the region can expect three nights (31 March – 2 April 2017) of extraordinary music from a star-studded line-up of multiple award-winning artists.

Among them are two multiple Grammy Award winners Corinne Bailey Rae and David Foster.

Other music stars such as Nik West, Youssou Ndour & Le Super Etoile de Dakar, Raúl Midón Trio, Esperanza Spalding, Chaka Khan, Gilles Peterson and Ray Parker Jr., as well as local favourite Aaron James Lee will ensure music lovers an exhilarating entertainment under the stars.

In addition to the international line-up of music stars on the Main Stage, organisers this year has expanded the Festival to include The Late Show. Starting at 10pm, The Late Show held indoors at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre will go on till 4am and is expected to heighten the festival experience by catering to the late night party crowd and clubbers looking for a celebrity-driven VIP experience, such as the VIP Green Room which allows guests to rub shoulders with all of the stars of this mega music weekend in Singapore.

Relive The Performance of Both Maroon 5 & Bon Jovi During The Singapore F1 GrandPrix 2015

The Singapore Airlines Formula One Singapore Grand Prix 2015 may have already ended more than week ago but that does not stop me from sharing with you the two after-race performances that some of my Huneybees might have missed out - Maroon 5 (Saturday) & Bon Jovi (Sunday).
Unfortunately there will not be any review on Pharrell Williams performance as my flight returning to Singapore arrived late that same evening he was scheduled to perform and hence have to forgo the ticket that I already paid for that day.

Maroon 5 performance was a total sell out based on to the size of the crowd that stayed behind after the Formula one qualifying race to watch the American pop band, in particularly Adam Levine, rock the Padang.

The crowd was granted a good live performance from Maroon 5 with mix of both new and old hits such as Payphone, Moves like Jagger, Daylight, etc. plus Adam Levine went topless to show off  his well toned but heavily tattooed upper body, towards the end of the show, received screams louder than the race itself!

Unfortunately the 1 hour performance was too short in view of the high price people paid for the Day 2 ticket, many specially to catch the band perform here. Also, the security decision to close all but 1 entrance to the concert ground - in the name of crowd control - forced many late comers to fight their way into the concert ground from the rear end of Padang, which in my opinion was an invitation for stampede.

After 20 years, Bon Jovi returned to entertain Singapore on the actual race day, but this time the New Jersey rock band performance was a pale shadow of its former self in terms of both energy and appeal.
With the departure of Richie Sambora so was half the charisma of the band live on stage, where his solo guitar play of the band's famous hits such as Wanted dead or alive and It's my life was sorely missed.

Credit to the lead singer, Jon Bon Jovi, who worked tirelessly throughout the concert to fill that void by constantly interacting with the crowd, but unfortunately due to the humid yet hazy weather coupled with his less than ideal physics didn't worked very well for him as he was caught stealing quick breaks between songs.

The lukewarm reception from the crowd during the introduction of several unfamiliar songs from the band's thirteenth studio album - Burning Bridges - summed up the band's performance for that evening.

In summary, while drama has been unfolding on the Formula One Marina Circuit race year on year, that could not be said the same on the choice of the performers for the post-race concerts.
Let's hope the race and event promoter Singapore GP Pte Ltd will do a better job next year!

DAY 3 of inaugural Sing Jazz 2014 (Part 2/2)

I'm back to share the second part of  the Day 3 of the inaugural Singapore International Jazz Festival 2014 (Sing Jazz 2014)!

@8:55PM: James Morrison Many people who are unfamiliar with Jazz might have mistaken the identity of the multi-instrumental Australian jazz musician from the more popular British pop star James Morrison, who share the same name.  James Morrison playing the trumpet I was amazed by how good James Morrison is with the trumpet! Widely known for his trumpet playing, James (Lloyd) Morrison, also played many instruments such as saxophones, clarinet, flugelhorn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, guitar and piano.  James Morrison gave the audience a truly brilliant exhibition of classic instrumental jazz at its best! James Morrison playing saxophone with guest singer Roberta Gambarini   The multi-instrumental playing Australian showed the audience how good he was in playing and switching between instruments; this time with a trombone James Morrison on piano playing a number with double bass @10:30PM: India Arie Probably the most recognizable name in the Day 3 of Sing Jazz 2014, India Arie is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. She has sold over 3.3 million records in the US and 10 million worldwide according to Wikipedia. The Soul Jazz Grammy Award winner India Arie! India Arie praised the audience for giving her the overwhelming support and hence energy for her performance  Audience interaction moment with India Arie Wearing her mother-made white dress, India Arie not only displayed such a strong vocal performance of soul jazz but her confidence as well when she threw her head dress away during a number. A demonstration of confidence without the head dress! An excellent vocal performance of Soul Jazz by India Arie and her back-up singers India Arie showing off her mum-made dress to the audience Overall the evening has been a excellent mixed of Jazz performance and certainly a great introduction to someone, like me, who has little exposure to Jazz music before.

Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado will be flying into town on August 14 for a one-night special showcase.

The Grammy Award-winning singer will be performing at The Coliseum at Resorts World Sentosa to promote her brand new album, ‘The Spirit Indestructible’, set for release on 18 September 2012,  for SingTel AMPed customers.
