Enjoy Thai Dishes With Sea Breeze At Central Thai

It has been getting warmer these days and if it has whetted your appetite for something appetizing, sour, and spicy, I have a nice Thai restaurant to recommend. 

Located along Area F of East Coast Park, you can find a pit-stop restaurant - Central Thai. After cycling, roller-blading or strolling along the beach, this is a nice place to cool down, chill and have a nice meal with your friends and family.

The restaurant has an air-conditioned dining area as well as an alfresco dining area, where you can choose to cool down from the heat of the day or enjoy dining under the stars whilst the sea breeze blows against your skin.

To start off bringing your tastebuds to Thailand, help yourself to an order of Iced Thai Milk Tea or Iced Lemongrass Juice. Then, enjoy a nice bowl of Tom Yum Soup that's full of fresh seafood ingredients, slightly spicy with a tangy touch that goes well with their Pineapple Rice.

I liked that the Pineapple Rice comes with cashews on the side, as it brings a nutty taste to the dish, enhancing the taste of pineapple freshness within the rice.

Next, is the Steamed Sea Bass with Spicy Lemon Sauce. Normally, steamed fish dishes in Singapore are either served with Soya Sauce or Curry/Mala style. This non-spicy version with that slight citrusy sauce makes such an appetizing complementary to the fresh fish. I almost finished the dish by myself with not a drop of sauce left...  😜

Bringing the spicy level up, we had the Thai Spicy Basil with Minced Chicken and Sambal Petai. They're both great dishes to go with rice with just the right amount of spiciness. I'm normally not a fan of petai but I found myself snacking on the dish non-stop.

If you can have more, do give their Thai Prawn Cakes a try too. It's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside with generous bites of prawn meat inside; pair it with the sweet Thai sauce to compliment that umami flavour.

Last, don't leave without ending your meal with their Mango Sticky Rice. The fragrant pandan-flavoured rice goes so well with the slight sweet sourness of the mango slice; drizzle a little of the coconut sauce and I guarantee you will be craving for this dessert all the time.

I'm definitely a fan of Central Thai with its delicious and easy-on-the-wallet dishes, which you can share with your loved ones and enjoy a nice stroll along the beach after a hearty meal.

Wakeboard & Dine @ Coastal Rhythm Bar Restaurant

If you are looking for a place to chillax in the East, I have a recommendation for you...

In the heart of East Coast Park, you can find the Coastal Rhythm bar restaurant next to the Singapore Wake Park (cable ski centre). This waterfront bar makes a great meeting place for all water-sports enthusiasts or friends / family day out. 

I had the privilege to be invited to try out their food and here's a few that I find unique to the bar and worth recommending...

Nicoise Salad

It's always nice to have a side of salad alongside your meal, just to balance it out eh? This salad is served with Seared Tuna, Potato Chunks, Egg, etc. I'm normally not a veggie person, but myself alone could finish this whole plate for the dressing is delicious! 

Mac and Cheese

Sometimes the simple dishes are the hardest to perfect. The creamy cheese well melted with a thin crispy crust on top as you bite into every flavourful, rich mac and cheese. It's definitely a sin not to miss.

Battered Otah Sticks

My favourite dish and I couldn't stop going back for more! Who would have thought our favourite version of spicy mackeral fish cake can be fused with a british recipe to create such a delight on our tongues! Love the combination and I think it can only be found here, don't forget to dip them in the coriander mint sauce! 

Otah & Chips
When Fish & Chips get oh-so-boring, switch it up with Otah & Chips. You get the steamed mackeral fish cake instead of the battered version, I find it a healthier alternative and the coleslaw (red side dish) is my must-have, it's sweet, creamy and in fact, you don't even know you are eating veggie!

Waffles with a Scoop of Ice Cream

To end the meal on a sweeter note, don't leave without Waffles with a Scoop of Ice Cream and a milk shake. We love the crispiness if the waffle, it's not to thick (gets soggy with the ice cream melts), just nice to pair with the berries and syrup and you won't have to worry too much about the carbs the next day.

So there you have it. I'm loving the once-in-a-while getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, throwing all the stress away, sipping a glass of wine as you enjoy the sea breeze and enjoy the beauty of the nature... =D

The National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop Returns...

The National Geographic Channel Free Pet Shop, Singapore’s largest dog-adoption drive is back, with more dogs! This year, NGC Free Pet Shop brings together five dog shelters Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD), Animal Lovers League (ALL), Noah’s Ark, Gentle Paws and Save Our Street Dogs. Featuring more than 100 dogs that will be up for adoption, the event will aims to advocate dog adoption and foster greater man-canine relationship offer fringe activities and workshops that will shed new light on dog ownership.
