A Fresh New Beginning With Starbucks

GOOD MORNING HUNEYBEES! I'm feeling super refreshed this morning, writing this article as I'm sipping on my coffee at Starbucks. If you have some time before work starts, do hop on over to a Starbucks near you to try out their 2018 beverages.

What I'm having now is their new Okinawa Brown Sugar Latte with Soya Mousse. Though it is made with the famed Okinawa brown sugar (made by slow cooking pure sugarcane juice), it is not overly sweet, just nice blending in with the signature Starbucks Espresso and the silky soya mousse. The drink is finished with a swirl of brown sugar drizzle and is available in either hot or iced version.

If you prefer something of the norm, the Salted Caramel Mocha Crumble has also returned. Mocha sauce and toffee nut syrup with coffee, milk, and ice are blended and then layered with a delicious combination of whipped cream and caramel sauce. The beverage is then topped with a delightful blend of turbinado sugar and sea salt for a perfect sweet and savory taste. It is available hot, iced or as a Frappuccino® beverage to suit your mood.

And if you have time, woke up early or happen to be working at Starbucks, why not tantalize your taste buds with their refreshed breakfast menu at Starbucks. Scrumptious yet affordable, with something for everyone, these new additions are perfect for when you’re on-the-go and will surely be the best start to your day.

Otherwise, indulge in a heartier start to the day and opt for the new Scrambled Egg, Sausage, Spinach & Mushroom Breakfast Bowl or Breakfast Ham & Cheese Panwich or old favorites like the Rosemary Chicken with Emmental Cheese Croissant, Egg White, Roasted Pepper & Mushroom Wrap, Turkey Ham, Egg White & Cheddar Sandwich or Turkey Bacon, Tomato & Egg Croissant Bun, accompanied with brewed coffee for only $7.50*. If you prefer a lighter bite, take your pick from our range of other ala carte breakfast items including pancakes, bagels, croissants, oatmeal and yogurt parfaits.

Falling In Love With Mellower Coffee's Sakura Fubuki

While the general public are still praying for the return of Gong Cha and sharing mixed reviews on the new cheesy milk tea by LiHO, a specialty café from Shanghai has been making great stride into the local F&B scene with very interesting coffee.

Imagine standing under the cherry blossom trees, wind blowing against your skin, making the sakura petals fall from the trees as you catch a whiff of sakura fragrance whilst sipping on your warm cuppa of Joe. This is what Mellower Coffee Singapore wants you to feel with their newly launched signature drink - Sakura Fubuki.

Designed as an unique Japanese twist to the typical Americano, this drink contains Sakura blossom preserve that is actually Sakura petals imported from Japan (Osaka to be exact) in a glass of chilled syrup with ice and 2 shots of expresso in test tubes.

To truly enjoy this new signature from Mellower Coffee, I suggest you, my Huneybees to start by mixing half a shot/test tube of expresso into the glass of syrup with Sakura blossom preserve just to sample it before adding more.

Doing so will allow you to find your own preference by adjusting the degree of bitterness, whilst reducing the saltiness and sweetness from the petal preserves and the syrup collectively. Just like first love, magnificent yet short lived, beautiful yet with a snip of bitterness.

For me, my perfect balance was to add in 1.5 shots (or test tube) of espresso, leaving me with a slight floral aftertaste. Not only is the Sakura Fubuki a dance on your taste buds, it's also Instagram worthy.
