Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience - Ready to Step Into His World?

Hi Huneybees,

Imagine stepping into a painting and feeling what's it like to be in a
Post-Impressionistic world, flow in with the expressive brush strokes, smell the vibrant sunflowers, or sit under the stars and admire them as they dance before your eyes. Wouldn't it be amazing?

With cutting-edge technology, this can happen. This March, the highly-anticipated Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is coming to Singapore, where art enthusiasts like you and me are able to immerse in the works of one of the most celebrated artists in history. It has been a hit in other cities around the world, including Madrid, Beijing, and Seoul, and has received rave reviews from art critics and visitors alike and it is the exhibition's first foray into Southeast Asia, debuting at Resorts World Sentosa.

This 360° multi-sensory exhibition will bring Van Gogh's iconic artworks to life, featuring over 300 images of his paintings, drawings, and sketches, projected onto the walls of the 17,000 square feet exhibition space, accompanied by a carefully curated soundtrack. You will be able to walk through the entire space, experience the paintings up close and personal and see the brushstrokes and colors of Van Gogh's works in vivid detail.

One of the core highlights of this exhibition is an expansive central projection area where the digital projections are the most prominent, creating a mesmerizing space where you can sit and absorb the wonders of one of the most well-loved Dutch influential artists at every turn.

The Singapore edition of this exhibition will see the inaugural debut of two unique segments too - featuring a showcase of the traditional Japanese art style of woodblock stamps and prints as well as an authentic matcha tea ceremony.

These segments are curated as a tribute to the Japonisme art movement that had a strong influence on Van Gogh’s style. You will also get to experience and learn more about Japanese woodblocking and also the art of the Japanese tea ceremony and get to enjoy a cup after.

A whole suite of add-on experiences is there to complement your artistic journey.

 • Drawing studio Create or recreate an art piece in the drawing studio, scan it, and watch it transform into a larger-than-life digital representation that you can use as a photo backdrop.
 • A thematic cafe that offers Janice Wong’s range of pastries and sweet treats
 • Yoga Classes
 • Art Jamming Sessions
 • Exclusive Merchandises

I think Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is a not-to-be-missed, especially for art lovers. Tickets are now available for purchase at S$24 onwards for adults and S$15 onwards for children, visit www.vangoghexpo.com/singapore for more information. See you there!

7 Reasons Why You Should Hop Onto The Pokémon GO Wagon

Hi Huneybees,

It all started with a Whatsapp message from la bff - "Pokémon GO is can now be played in Singapore!" and BAM! Now my life had a 360° Augmented Reality (AR) change.

As if social media is not enough to keep me eyes peeled to the mobile screen, I'm now STUCK to my mobile screen, frantically scramming for more battery chargers and going to places I've never been to before just to grab more items at Pokéstops and capture Pokémon-s.

So, it's been a week, I'm learning and discovering things every day as I level up. Yes! I finally hit Level 20! It's gratifying but looking back at the amount of time spent on the game, it's pretty worrying too. LOL!

Is Pokémon GO a (*quote James Corden) 'Kick It Out' or 'Bring It Back'? After this week's observation, I stand for ' Bring It Back'. Why? Read on...

1. Brings the family together
This is a game for all ages! Every day I see families coming together after dinner, enjoying a little gameplay at the hot spots, sitting under the shelters or on benches, discussing game strategy. The younger kids will be showing their parents/grandparents what to do when you see a Pokémon, how to fling a Pokéball at them and even helping them to 'Power Up' or 'Evolve' a Pokémon. I've never seen such an activity that brings so much family closeness before!

2. Social Interaction
With the game as the talk-of-the-town these days, it's so easy to strike a conversation and it might even make a good pickup line too! I've chatted with so many people, sharing tips and tricks whilst waiting for the next Pokémon to spawn, we even all shouted 'Hooray-s' when a rare Pokémon appears and gets caught. It's really difficult to remain quiet whilst playing this game. Hehehehe...

Venonat disturbing me at breakfast...

3. Positive Vibes
Linking to what's said above, there's a secret smile and nod when you pass by fellow Pokémon trainers. Bus rides and train rides are never the same again, when people are giving you the 'Heyo' acknowledgement.

Moreover, each Pokémon is drawn to such great cuteness, staring at them every day just brings a little smile and chuckle, especially against the real world setting!

4. Explore Singapore
With Pokéstops planted at every nook and cranny around Singapore, I'm seeing Singapore in another light! There are so much more secret spots that are not listed in those touristy guide books and I would suggest visitors to Singapore or even locals, to go explore Singapore with the game instead.

5. Burn fats
As the game is pretty much a distance based game, the more you walk, the faster you can hatch eggs to add to your list in Pokédex. It makes a great excuse to drag me out of the house and have me cardio exercising, taking in a bit sun whilst burning fats. The hot weather is definitely making me perspire more than usual!

Now this doesn’t mean you can hop in your car or get on the bus until your egg hatches. The Pokemon Go app uses both the GPS and pedometer in your phone to determine how far you’ve walked and if you're going faster than 12 mph it won't add any distance to your incubating egg.

6. Brainwork
Spending time thinking which Pokémon to evolve first, how to spend those precious Stardust and candies or even which Pokémon to use whilst training in the gym, makes my brain juice running constantly. Playing the game in between articles even helps with my writer's block, as I truly take my mine off the "work" and relax those brain muscles for awhile before getting back into those articles.

7. Attracting customers
If you have a Pokéstop at or near your store, you might want to invest some real-world moolah in getting lure modules. Not only will that be attracting Pokémons but it will also be increasing your store visibility, thus attracting more customer flow too!
Pokéstops with activated lure modules tend to attract more people to gather as that means more Pokémons being drawn to that area. But lures only work for 30 minutes, which means you might need a few to get through the day...

Well, with so many awesome benefits, why are you not playing Pokémon GO yet?!
Just a note of caution, this is a game after all, your safety is the most important, please watch where you are going and do not play when crossing roads or driving. Be careful and catch 'em all! =)

Answer The Call To Fly With The Super Heroes - Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman & Green Lantern This Saturday!

Hi Huneybees,

HELP!

The Joker has been wrecking havoc in Singapore and your help is needed! The call for help is now!
Come report at Faber Peak Singapore, the mission-base for renowned Super Heroes to help save the day!

The Bat Signal has been up, Super Heroes have been fighting off the bad guys, but there's more and your help is needed!

For the next 10 months, come take to the skies with Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and the Green Lantern in the Singapore Cable Car, which has been identified as the perfect vehicle to combat evil.

Launching on 31 May 2014, 45 cable car cabins will be decked out in ' DC Comics Super Hero' graphic wraps on both the cabins' exterior and interior for a one-of-a-kind experience as you fly with the Super Heroes. The Singapore Cable Car will be the first to use in-cabin Augmented Reality (AR) technology to bring the characters and the mission to life.

At the media preview, I got to fly with my favourite hero or rather heroine - Wonder Woman! She's always been the one to stand for Girl Power with her strength and she is definitely not losing out to the boys.

But, but, but before you start, don't forget to download the crime-fighting app in your phone - 'Fly With Super Heroes' that is available for both Google Play and AppStore. Don't worry about connection, as you will be able to get FREE Wi-Fi here at the base.

Once you have it loaded, simply hop onto your ride and turn on the app. Point your phone towards the AR marker in the cabin (Psst, there are 3 in a cabin) and prepare to fly and fight with your DC Super Heroes by tapping on the screen!

And once you are done fighting, why not come sit with your Super Hero for a victorious shot? Be sure to share it on your social media, tell your friends to join us on the crime fighting adventure!

You can even add 'stamps' to beautify the shots.
Also, don't forget to enjoy the view and come stop by the Cable Car Gift Shops to bring home exclusive DC Super Heroes memorabilia!

So, come over over, starting this Saturday, 31 May 2014, to come meet-and-greet the Super Heroes for some photo opportunities and join forces in fighting off The Joker!

 See you there!
