Ghost Files Singapore Premieres Tonight!

The 7th Month Hungry Ghost Festival is here and nothing beats bringing up the fear factor with some paranormal activity, venturing into the unknown in Singapore. We are rich in history and there have been stories of paranormal sightings. Are they true? You do not dare to check out, well, Ghost Files Singapore will be there for you!

Ghost Files Singapore (GFS) is a brand new paranormal web television series starring Noel Boyd and his team of paranormal investigators - Joel Liew and Jocelyn Teo. Do watch out for guest investigators such as celebrity musicians Jack and Rai along with social media personality Billy Chong in subsequent episodes.

Each week, the investigators will bring viewers to a haunted site to document the paranormal activities at the said location using their "ghost-detecting" equipments. In the first episode, the team headed to two locations on Pulau Ubin - the German Girl Shrine (Berlin Heligtum) and Jelutong Bridge. Both locations are reportedly haunted by spirits due to numerous sightings and during a meetup with the crew, hearing their stories, I bet you will want to stick close to the television! My hairs were standing on their ends and be sure to catch the subsequent episodes at locations like Pearl's Hill City Park and Fort Canning. 

So, do ghosts really exist or is it a myth? Join the team weekly on their quest as they uncover the truth!

Another 7th Month dinner

The 7th month on the Lunar Calendar just ended and I did a makeup for the last dinner that I had with my parents for the 7th Month. It's a little overboard, but let's just say as long as you are confident, you can carry off any look!

I was thinking of a colour to go with my teal t-shirt and I tot of purple!

Super crazy top and bottom lashes for the night.

Here's a little breakdown. Correction, the eyeliner is BLUE NOON not High Noon.

It was pretty much a simple eye makeup look. A light to dark purple eyeshadow for the lids and a light pink eyeshadow with shimmer for the brow bone and for a twist, I used my favourite M.A.C. Blue Noon eyeliner to line my lower lashline.

Then it's off to the false lashes. For the top I used a super volumizing pair of lashes from Daiso and for the bottom, I used 3 of those individual lashes also from Daiso, and applied them close to each other starting from the outer corner of the eyes.

This look is pretty dramatic, but I guess you can try it out with neutral colours like beige and brown eyeshadow for a day out with the girls or try other colours when you go for clubbing/parties. Have fun exploring the different ways!

Huney'Z 1st 7th Month Dinner in 2011

Hi Huneybees,

7th Month is here and like every year, my parents are invited to different places for dinner and I wanted to share my 1st 7th Month dinner with you guys.

What is 7th Month?

It's actually the 7th month of the lunar calendar. The Chinese would call this the ghost month as it's said that the Gates of Hell open to allow ghosts and spirits to access the mortal world to visit their families and some say "holiday" for them as they get to feast on the offerings.

But for me, 7th month means lots of dinner events with family and while we dine, there's a bidding session that lasts all the way till 11pm. Normally these dinners are under HDB blocks and the bidding tends to be noisy, so 11 pm is the curfew for noise control.

Arriving at the event and seeing that the tables were set with pink serviettes makes it so nostalgic.

See, the kitchen is right under the block.

They have to prepare huge quantities of the same dish just for starters. Imagine the number of tables for the night.

Waitresses even had matching uniform with serviettes lor.

Beer anyone?

We found the table under Daddy's company name and settled down.

Checking out the items that are up for bids.

These are the more significant ones, as the items have a meaning and gives blessings to the company or family who wins the bid. The golden pig was brought around to get people to drop their money in and winning bidder gets to take the pig and all the money inside home!

Then the dishes were dished out. Let me introduce them one by one....

Cold dish, appetizer came first.

Soup. for once we tot we had shark's fins soup.

End up is just chicken shreds and beansprouts soup.

I went for a break, went out for some photo taking coz there were some inconsiderate people smoking in such an enclosed area. *Choke*

The other dishes were, Mushroom and Vegetables.

And dessert was Or Ni, Yam Paste with Ginkgo Nuts.

I shall leave you guys with this interesting video of the host at the bidding session. Not sure why whenever there's a high bid, he will do this chant (this is the first year I experience this) and everyone on the spot will shout in response with him. It's in Hokkien and I'm not so proficient in it. Anyone knows what he said exactly please let me know?
